Krisi Jarrett
REGISTERED MENTAL HEALTH NURSE &
EMDR THERAPIST
My name is Krisi, and I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse and EMDR Therapist living and working on Wadawurrung Country, Jan Juc. With over a decade of experience in mental health, I specialise in EMDR therapy to help individuals navigate their most profound challenges.
My approach is trauma-informed and person-centered, focused on empowering you to tap into your brain's natural capacity for healing. I work with a wide range of mental health issues, including PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety, and depression, with a particular passion for supporting individuals during the postnatal period, including fathers and partners. As a mother myself, I have experienced the joys and struggles that come with parenting, which has deepened my commitment to serving those impacted by birth trauma, loss, pregnancy, or parenthood.
I am IFS (Internal Family Systems) informed and integrate this approach, along with Parts work and Attachment-based therapies, to support you in building a deeper connection with yourself and your healing process. As a strong advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, I am dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive space where every client feels respected, heard, and supported. Through the therapeutic relationship, I aim to foster lasting healing and transformation, ensuring you feel fully supported every step of the way.
What is EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an interactive form of psychotherapy designed to alleviate psychological stress. This structured approach employs bilateral stimulation, typically through eye movements, to reduce the intensity and emotional impact of traumatic memories.
When we encounter distressing situations, our natural fight, flight, or freeze responses are triggered. If these feelings persist beyond the event, they can manifest as overwhelming images, thoughts, and emotions, making us feel trapped in the moment. EMDR therapy aids the brain in processing these memories, allowing for the continuation of normal healing processes. The memories remain, but the associated distress is diminished.
Whether conducted online or in person, EMDR therapy is equally effective, and I offer support to clients across Australia via telehealth.
